The Hardest Goodbye
Prologue
The pain in his heart was unbearable.
He took another sip of the cold and hard liquor in his glass as he hoped that it would at least lessen the pain. From the corner of his eyes, he saw that it was already 4am.
He placed the glass on the side drawer and took a long gaze at the most beautiful feminine figure in the world, enshrouded by her favourite mackinaw. As his meticulous eyes traced her lovely face, he sat down gently beside her.
She moved a little and opened those pretty eyes slightly.
"Mmmmm..... Matt, you didn't sleep?"
"Couldn't sleep," he replied as he helped her up.
"Could you get me a glass of water Matt? I'm a little thirsty."
"Distilled? As usual?"
"As usual, Matt," she smiled, ever so sweetly.
He went down to her kitchen as his thoughts ran wild. The pain amplified. He knew that she is going away, no matter what. He could vividly remember everything that she said.
If only she knew.
